Originally opened in 1938, the Civic Hall has earned a reputation as one the UK's leading concert venues.

The venue closed for a £38m refurbishment between 2016 and 2023 and reopened with an increased capacity of 3,404. The Civic, along with its sister venue the Wulfrun are now managed by AEG Presents.

Although its capacity is similar to a small arena venue, the Civic maintains a relatively intimate atmosphere while managing to attract larger acts. Blur, Bob Dylan, Siouxie and Liam Gallagher are amongst the recent acts to appear since its reopening.

The venue has three levels: stalls, circle and balcony. The stalls may be seated or standing depending on the show. The circle is mainly seated with some standing room at the sides and the balcony is all seated.

Getting there

By car

The Civic Hall is located in Wolverhampton city centre, and is no more than ten minutes walk from any of the car parks within the ring road. We'd recommend downloading the RingGo app and using Fold Street or Stafford Street car parks. The Civic Centre multi-storey car park is conveniently located opposite the venue, but be prepared for queues when the show finishes.

By train and metro

Wolverhampton railway and metro station is ten minutes walk from the venue. St. Georges metro station is also a ten minute walk.

Eating and drinking

Drinks in the Civic Hall are expensive, but there are plenty of local pubs to visit before the show. The Giffard Arms (5 minutes walk on Victoria Street) is a very popular rock pub which is open until late for a post-show drink. Fans of real ale will undoubtedly enjoy The Lych Gate Tavern (2 minutes walk, just off Queen Square) and The Posada (Lichfield Street, 5 mins).

For food, a range of favourites including tapas and burgers can be found at the Lupo Lounge (Dudley Street, 10 minutes walk). Other notable restaurants include The Khans, serving fine Asian food (2 mins walk on Cheapside, booking recommended), Made in Thai (Darlington Street, 5 mins) and Rosso e Nero (Darlington Street, 5 mins).

Hotels

Wolverhampton doesn't currently have a wide choice of hotels. The Premier Inn city centre and Novotel are 15 minutes and 20 minutes walk respectively.

Accessibility

There is step free access to all stalls seating and standing areas. Lifts serve the circle and balcony level, but only some rows of seating on these levels are step free. Each level has dedicated bar and toilets. For further information, please email access@thehallswolverhampton.co.uk.
