Dave Jones Stratospheric

Critically acclaimed Welsh keyboardist/composer Dave Jones and his newest band ‘Stratospheric’ play their own exciting brand of jazz-influenced progressive rock. The original Prog Rock material is played by a line-up of jazz musicians working across a broad range of musical styles.

‘Stratospheric’ has a great line-up (in fact more of a pool of musicians who share the gigs), including musicians involved in recording at the start of the project, alongside those who joined later for the first live performances in 2026. Their other work has seen them performing/recording with e.g. Portishead, Jethro Tull, Toyah, Kasabian, Goldfrapp, and the late great rock and jazz session bassist Herbie Flowers.

The track ‘Trepidation/74 Heist’ from the new ‘Stratospheric’ vinyl album recently won Prog magazine’s ‘Tracks of the Week’ feature, and the album has attracted great reviews in both Prog magazine and online magazine ‘Jazz Views’.

Dave has composed music for his own jazz ensembles and solo piano, as well as for TV and film, with tracks used worldwide in productions including The Big Bang Theory, news and current affairs programmes in Japan and Europe, and lifestyle programmes in the UK. His music has also featured in films including the Hollywood movie ‘Nuremberg’ (2026), with his piano piece ‘Paradis
