About the show
Our spring concert opens with Weber's Der Freischütz Overture and its unearthly portrayal of the supernatural. Saint-Saens' impassioned Cello Concerto No 1 follows, with the second half featuring Brahms' long-awaited and soul-searching Symphony No 1.

Todmorden Orchestra
The Todmorden Orchestra originally formed part of the old Todmorden Musical Society, but after the first World War in 1915, the instrumental and vocal sections decided to separate and the Todmorden Orchestra and the Todmorden Choral Society were formed. The two societies are still separate but frequently join together for concerts.
