About the show

The Return Of The Psychedelic Circus - A Multi Media Event Of Art, Discussion And Music From Noted Industry Names, All Combined In One Night Special Night At The Beautiful Church Venue That Is Sudbury Arts Centre

THE MUSIC There's a fair amount of mythology around the Psychedelic Circus and the identity of its members but the real story is that over a decade ago a loose collective of some of the finest musicians in the UK and beyond, with CV's to prove it, came together to play music 'simply for the love of it'

Having initially performed initially in a Brighton Cellar bar, before long the Collective were invited to perform 'residencies' at prestigious venues such as the 606 in Chelsea and The Hanbury Ballrooms in Brighton, alongside one off Festival appearances. Heavily influenced by what some describe as the 'Woodstock' spirit, the band seldom used specific set lists and became renowned for their imaginative jams of classic songs from the late 60's and early 70's in a heavily stylised sound of their own.

The musicians themselves have always been very 'in demand', playing as they have over the years with icons such as Beyonce, Chaka Khan and Bobby Womack, alongside dozens of household named pop/rock artists over recent decades - think M People to Sugababes and most points between - so the opportunity to get together for 'Circus' gigs have got somewhat rarer over the years. To make it even more special, they are flying in Diana Silveria as lead vocalist for the night, who is a tremendous soul/rock singer who once had the biggest social media of anyone in Portugal before changing her name, deleting the lot, just to get out of the limelight and be a working musician again. Somehow, somewhat apt to the 'Circus' spirit indeed. As someone said....

‘If you can imagine hearing diverse tunes by the likes of The Beatles and Jeff Buckley, jammed by Sly and the Family Stone with Jimi Hendrix on guitar and Tina Turner on vocals then that would give you a flavour of how The Psychedelic Circus roll!!’

THE TALK Preceding the music will be 45 minute discussion and audience "Q & A" with 'rock art' illustrator Mark Wilkinson, noted for his album cover artwork of famed bands such as Marillion, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, in 30 year long career of art projects involving some of the biggest names in music, film, TV and more. BBC Suffolk and Radio Caroline stalwart Stephen 'Foz' Foster will be your host for this illustrated discussion with Mark, giving an opportunity for the audience to ask questions of them both.

ARTWORK EXHIBITION If that's not enough, there will also be an exhibition of 'rock art' - oil paintings, acrylics, scultures, posters and more - by Mark Wilkinson himself, together with fellow artist James Wilkinson (no relation), owner of local establishment 'Pop Art Nouveau' and himself 'artist in residence' for the likes of V2 Festival, The Rolling Stones, Oasis and more.

Tickets, covering all three elements, are £22 available from (ticket link to follow). There are also a very limited number of VIP tickets at £45 which includes a glass of bubbly, front row seats and a private 'meet and greet' with the main participants pre-show in the exhibition area beforehand.
