About the show

Niall McNamee is a singer songwriter with a modern twist on his Irish heritage, mixing the best of Celtic post-punk passion with a 21st century alt rock perspective. Think Shane McGowan in a writing room with Dolores O’Riordan, Chris Martin and Alex Turner.McNamee’s songwriting highlights his storytelling, while his charismatic live performances are rapidly growing his reputation with audiences. 2024 saw sold-out headline shows in London (twice), Bury, Bristol, Glasgow, Birmingham and Dublin plus supports for The WolfeTones in Finsbury Park and Louis Dunford. A perfect introduction to this rising London-based artist, ‘Clapham Wine’ (Feb 2025, the first single from the forthcoming debut album) showcases a whole lot of indie attitude, mixed with a little bit of Irish trad, delivered with huge energy and charm.

A self-taught musician, Niall McNamee has been immersed in music his whole life. Throughout years as a struggling young actor, Niall supported himself performing Irish folk songs, resulting in his knowledge of traditional music growing rich and deep. But all the while, he was writing his own material, drawing on that heritage but pushing into contemporary rock and pop territory. He finds inspiration from artists like Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, The Pogues, Christy Moore and more recently The Undertones.
