About the show
Cambridge's Commoners' Comedy Club is going big! Much bigger, in fact!
We're delighted to bring Commoners' Comedy Club to Saffron Hall for a special night of stand-up featuring three of the UK's best comedians.
Scott Bennett (Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week) brings his brilliantly observed, down-to-earth comedy, finding the funny in family life and the everyday absurdities we all recognise.
Eshaan Akbar (Live at the Apollo, QI, Mock the Week) combines sharp social commentary, quick wit and an engaging storytelling style that takes audiences in unexpected directions.
Lou Sanders (Taskmaster winner, Last One Laughing, Live at the Apollo) is known for her gloriously unpredictable, offbeat humour and wonderfully original take on the world.
Known for bringing some of the UK's best comedy talent to intimate venues across Cambridge, Commoners' is swapping the club for the big stage for one night only.
Join us on Saturday 5th December for Commoners' biggest show yet!
Featuring - Lou Sanders
Lou Sanders surrealist style and high octane stage presence make her a joy to watch. She has appeared on ‘Alan Davies As Yet Untitled’, and starred in ‘Live from the BBC’. Her TV stand-up includes sets on ABC1’s ‘Comedy Up Late’ and ‘Russell Howard’s Good News’. Lou has written for ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’, ‘Mock the Week’, ‘Stand Up for the Week’ and ‘Miranda’.
'Utterly delightful and hugely talented... Destined for hugeness' (Time Out)
'When Lou rips a room into hysteria, she really rips it hard' (The Sun)
'... an hour of non-stop entertainment with seriously big laughs, wild and free and very, very funny’ (Chortle)
'... crazy off-beat surrealism' (The Independent).
Scott Bennett
Stylishly shirted, Yorkshire-born Scott Bennett delivers wry observations on the absurdity of modern living. His sharply-written routines, drawn from real-life experiences have been delighting audiences across the country; except in Yorkshire, where they are deeply suspicious of his shirts.
Likeable, with a warm and engaging delivery, he is a Yorkshire live wire with an undeniable no nonsense logic. English Comedian of the Year Runner Up, Comedy Cellar New Act of the Year and Old Speckled Hen Comedian of the Year.
'A generous helping of wonderfully witty comic observations about life's little quirks, relationships and human behaviour. Served by a Yorkshireman with relentless enthusiasm and boundless energy' (http://www.bbc.co.uk)
'Naturally hilarious, the highlight of the evening' (Broadway Baby, Edinburgh Fringe 2013)
'A star of the future' (Huddersfield Examiner)
'This loveable rising star enthrals his audiences with his warm and engaging delivery, he is a Yorkshire live wire with an undeniable no nonsense logic' (Funhouse Comedy).
Eshaan Akbar
