About the show

Beatrice the Amazing Astronaut is an interactive family concert. Children will experience virtuosic piano music performed by the concert pianist Beatrice, sing, dance and be fully immersed in an exciting, creative journey through outer space.

The concept for Beatrice the Amazing Astronaut was first conceived in 2021, when Beatrice was invited by Jesse Quin (bassist of the rock band Keane) to perform at Old Jet, the arts centre he founded on an abandoned U.S. Air Force base in the Suffolk countryside. Speaking about the first performance of this programme, Beatrice says, "The brogramme is full of recognisable pieces, that audiences might have heard in films, on the radio, in everyday life, and yet may have never heard them live! I wanted to create a concert programme that was perfectly suited to both children and adults, especially those who might not regularly attend classical concerts." Since then Beatrice has performed the concert in sold out shows in Biarritz Coliseum and Blackheath Halls, south London.

The music includes: W A Mozart Variations 1-5 from “Ah, vous dirais-je, maman”. Claude Debussy Clair de Lune from Suite Bergamasque Ludwig van Beethoven Moonlight Sonata, Movement I. Gustav Holst Excerpts from The Planets. Frédéric Chopin ‘Minute Waltz’ Op.64, Nr -1 Eric Satie Gymnopedie No.1 John Williams ET Theme
