Formed in 2021 by singer and songwriter Abbie Rose, Abnorm have quickly become one of the North East’s most exciting emerging alternative rock bands. Blending thunderous riffs, raw lyricism and a modern, unapologetic take on rock music, they’ve built a reputation for emotionally charged live shows that balance intensity with vulnerability.

Their latest single Rats captures the band at their most ambitious yet. Written from the perspective of the very thing people fear, it explores themes of dread, discomfort and confronting what we usually avoid. Darkly playful and full of attitude, it shows a band unafraid to push their songwriting into unexpected places.

Drawing inspiration from Paramore, The Pretty Reckless, Yonaka and Nova Twins, Abnorm sit at the forefront of a new wave of female-fronted rock reshaping the genre.

With appearances at Lindisfarne Festival and Treevolution, plus support slots for ARXX, Bad Touch, EEVAH and The Dust Coda, Abnorm arrive at Newgate Social firmly on the rise.
