About the show
Peter Donohoe was born in Manchester in 1953. He studied at Chetham’s School of Music for seven years, graduated in music at Leeds University and went on to study at the Royal Northern College of Music with Derek Wyndham and in Paris with Olivier Messiaen and Yvonne Loriod. He is acclaimed as one of the foremost pianists of our time, for his musicianship, stylistic versatility and commanding technique.
He will play the following programme:

Our piano, a fine 2015 Hamburg Steinway Model B Grand, is maintained by Steinways and tuned by them immediately before each recital.

Peter Donohoe is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest living British pianists. He first came to public attention when he won the Tchaikovsky competition in Moscow in 1982 and he now performs regularly with many of the major orchestras throughout the world.
