The Architecture of Walking
The Architecture of Walking at Trinity Buoy Wharf, London
About the show
Acclaimed writer Iain Sinclair, many of whose books have been inspired by walking back and forth across London, will be talking about how this can b “an instrument of enlightenment and resistance”, as well as how certain buildings and patterns of buildings influence and inform our lives.
He will, as he puts it, be “referencing in particular the energy lines between Nicholas Hawksmoor’s churches, a series of expeditions in the footsteps of Vincent van Gogh, and the forbidden voyage of Emanuel Swedenborg across the Isle of Dogs and into Wapping.”
Iain Sinclair is a prolific writer of fiction, poetry and non-fiction. In an experimental body of work, including titles such as “Downriver”, “Lights Out For The Territory” and “London Orbital”, Sinclair's writing has consistently pushed at the boundaries of genre and form.
