Orchestral Qawwali Project
Orchestral Qawwali Project at Royal Albert Hall, London
About the show
Two years after its sold-out debut, the genre-defying Orchestral Qawwali Project returns. Created by our Associate Artists Rushil Ranjan and Abi Sampa. Featuring the BBC Concert Orchestra and London Voices, conducted by Melvin Tay.
Written and directed by critically acclaimed composer and arranger Rushil Ranjan, the concert creates a breathtaking dialogue between centuries-old Sufi devotional traditions and the grandeur of Western symphonic music, interwoven with Indian classical dance. Led by the soaring vocals of Abi Sampa, the production reimagines Qawwali for a new generation.
This special event will push artistic boundaries and deliver entirely new, never-before-heard repertoire whilst still featuring audience favourites. With a new choral focus, the production will continue its exploration of universal spirituality, bringing together artists, traditions and communities in a powerful celebration of shared human experience.
