Join us for Friday Night Jazz at the Atrium Bar & Restaurant, President Hotel, Russell Square. On 14 August, we are delighted to present the outstanding trumpeter Byron Wallen, accompanied by Soner Ersen (piano), Jason Simpson (bass), and Eric Ford (drums).
Byron Wallen is one of the UK's leading jazz trumpeters and composers, celebrated for his distinctive sound, expressive improvisation, and original compositions. A recipient of the BBC Jazz Award for Innovation, he has performed and recorded with an impressive range of internationally acclaimed artists, including Loose Tubes, Carla Bley, Django Bates, Julian Joseph, and the Jazz Jamaica All Stars. His music reflects a rich blend of jazz traditions with influences from Africa, the Caribbean, and beyond, earning him widespread recognition as one of the most creative voices in contemporary British jazz.
Together, they will present an evening of outstanding live jazz, featuring exceptional musicianship, inspired improvisation, and a unique programme shaped by Byron Wallen's distinctive musical voice.

Byron Wallen was raised in a musical family and as a child studied classical piano, euphonium, trumpet, flute and drums. Wallen raises awareness and invokes change by unlocking boundaries through the nature and science of sound, and in turn has received the BBC Jazz Innovation award (2003) as well as being a multi-nominated MOBO award artist.
Soner Ersen
Soner Ersen is a London based jazz pianist and educator. He participates in different projects as a pianist, keyboardist, composer and educator. He is currently teaching at London Music House and gigging in London and abroad with his trio/quartet.
