About the show

Join (demonic) doctor Adam Kay and (infernal) illustrator Henry Paker for the world’s most queasy quiz. Expect blood-curdling brain-teasers, disgusting draw-alongs and grizzly games, as the maniacs behind Kay’s Anatomy fill your half-term with plagues and pus.   Ever wondered why medieval doctors would strap a dead mole to your head? What foods can cause worms to grow inside your brain? Why doctors thought dog poo would cure a sore throat? No? Well, you’ll hate Kay’s Gruesome Games.

For wretches aged 7 and over. And their parents, if they absolutely must attend.

Adam started out life as a doctor but after a brief medical career, he swapped his white coat for a microphone. One of the members of Amateur Transplants. With sellout tours and Edinburgh Fringe seasons, his cutting-edge, darkly humourous re-imaginings of pop and rock classics have gained him a cult following across the UK. His songs have over 20 million hits on YouTube (including the iconic London Underground Song) and have been in the iTunes comedy top ten consistently since 2008.

'Extremely funny. Never less than utterly clever' (The Daily Telegraph)

'This made me very, very happy' (Stephen Fry).

Henry Paker

Henry Paker appearing at this event

After a brief career in computer animation, Henry Paker decided to give comedy a go. He started out doing stand up in rooms above pubs, then in rooms below pubs and then eventually in the main body of the pub itself. In 2008 he won the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year and realised he might be onto something. Since then Henry’s many comic talents have seen him carve out a career as a comic writer, stand up, actor and cartoonist.

'Fabulous narrative arc and tremendous panache that is utterly winning and delights an audience’ (Chortle)

'Charming, inventive and very funny' (British Comedy Guide)

'Has the audience rolling in the aisles for the vast majority of an action-packed hour. Paker is a riotous, iconoclastic star in the making' (Fest)

'... the star is Henry Paker; every one of his jokes is built up perfectly, and the punchline is always hilarious. Clever material, but silly enough not to alienate anyone' (Three Weeks).
