Water & Fire showcases Steinway Artist Rupert Egerton-Smith in a captivating programme inspired by the elemental forces of nature. Released on Quartz Music in summer 2026, the performance features works by Chopin, Debussy, Liszt and Ravel, culminating in Agosti's dazzling transcription of Stravinsky's The Firebird. Blending live performance, storytelling and improvisation, the concert explores the connection between music and visual imagery.
Described by New York Concert Review as a "pianist and musician of the highest calibre" with electrifying energy, Rupert has followed an extraordinary path to the concert stage. After studying History at Oxford, he spent a decade as an international strategy consultant before returning to music full time in 2020. Since then, he has performed at renowned venues including Carnegie Hall, Salle Gaveau in Paris, the Berlin Philharmonie and London's Cadogan Hall.
His recordings have received critical acclaim, with The Daily Telegraph praising his debut album as "technically stunning." From 2022 to 2026, Rupert served as Artist in Residence with the Orchestra of St John's, performing major piano concertos by Beethoven, Mozart, Grieg, Rachmaninov and Schumann.
In 2024, he performed for HM Queen Camilla during the centenary celebrations of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue and returned to Carnegie Hall later that year to a standing ovation. In 2025, Steinway & Sons welcomed him to its prestigious roster of Steinway Artist.

Pianist Rupert Egerton-Smith was born and grew up in Norwich. His mother, a teacher at the Royal College of Music, first sat him on the piano stool when he was six. Following success in a number of international competitions he is now one of the UK’s most promising musicians and increasingly in demand as a recital pianist and concerto soloist.
