About the show

This summer, Moving Parts Theatre Company will be performing a dramatisation of Northanger Abbey in Keats House Garden. In preparation, come and learn more about Jane Austen and the 18th century fascination with The Gothic.

This talk will discuss the life and work of Jane Austen, with particular reference to the gothic themes showcased in Northanger Abbey.

Louise works in the heritage sector and is currently undertaking a Masters degree at the University of Cambridge in Building History. She was appointed Chair of the Jane Austen Society, London Branch in December 2025. Louise is passionate about eighteenth century literature and architecture, which will be demonstrated in this talk.
