The Irish Language in London/An Ghaeilge i Londain

This event brings together world-leading experts from universities in the US, UK and Ireland to discuss the story of the Irish language in London. The panel will discuss the history of Irish in London from time immemorial to the present day.

Please note that the talks will be in English with ‘cúpla focal’ (a few words of Irish).

Topics will include the Irish migrant experience in London, as well as the city’s role in the Gaelic Revival and its continuing connection to Irish-language literature and culture. Chaired by Dr Eoghan Ahern (Institute of Irish Studies, University of Liverpool), with speakers: Dr Deirdre Nic Mhathúna (Dublin City University, Ireland), Dr Ríona Nic Congáil (University College Dublin) and Professor Brian Ó Conchubhair (University of Notre Dame, USA).
