Featuring - Daraa Tribes

A fusion of ancestral tribal music and Saharan Blues, Daraa Tribes comes from the oasis town of Tagounite in the Daraa River Valley of Morocco, with each member originating from a different tribe, bringing with them diverse music traditions to create an eclectic style only to be found in the oases of the North African Sahara.
Simo Lagnawi
A charismatic dancer, guembri and percussion player, with a mesmeric voice, from Morocco. Simo has the gift to invoke trance and he has also woven the ancient Morrocan musical form with everything from the jazzy triphop of Mark Horwood (R.I.P) and Matt Gray, to the English folk songs of wife Suzi Hicks. He is the leading UK player of the Guembri – a traditional lute-like stringed instrument made from camel skin.
