About the show

Following his acclaimed performances dedicated to the brilliant US jazz pianist and composer Andrew Hill, whose
quintet Byron played in until Hill’s death in 2007, Byron now leads this project into thrilling new territory. Retaining the exploratory essence of Hill’s visionary work the band now channel this through vibrant original
compositions, utilising Hill’s harmonic and rhythmic freedom to forge a compelling contemporary sound. Joined by a stellar lineup of: Danny Piers-piano, Kobe Heath Ngugi- bass & Sacha Harlan-drums, together they create music that is both a tribute to a master and at the same time a bold statement of its own identity. As Byron says, “It’s the sound of a legacy being lived and evolved, not merely revisited”.
