Steve Gribbin first took to the stage at the tender age of 13. He was cruelly beaten into third place by a ventriloquist and a Donny Osmond impersonator. By his late teens, Steve was fifty per cent of comedy duo Skint Video just as something called ‘alternative comedy’ was beginning to infuriate the tabloids.. All good things come to an end and Skint Video was no different. Steve got custody of the guitar and metamorphosised into the comedy circuit’s most prolific and productive performer.

‘A highly refreshing and original comic. Hilarious!’ The Scotsman ‘Pulls it off with real aplomb.’ The Independent

Alistair Barrie has made numerous radio, television, corporate and festival appearances across the globe. Alistair has taken seven solo shows to the Edinburgh Festival – his 2012 show ‘Urban Fogey’ and 2015 show ‘No More Stage Three’ were both runner up for best show at the Edinburgh Fringe in the Amused Moose Laughter Awards. No More Stage Three, which told the tale of his wife’s breast cancer, was invited to the 2016 Perth Festival in Australia before a European tour and dates at London’s prestigious Soho Theatre. He also appeared in the hit plays ‘Breaker Morant’ with Adam Hills and ‘Coalition‘ with Phil Jupitus, .

“As sharp as a guillotine blade” Cape Town Argus ★★★★ Chortle ★★★★ Metro ‘Excellent’ The Independent

Your host for the evening is self-confessed 'Newcastle Brown Male’ Raul Kohli is blessed with a world view that upends ethnicity, culture and class. Combining ‘Superb political comedy’ (The Scotsman) with surreal storytelling. He has recently appeared in the NUFC Amazon Prime documentary: We Are Newcastle, & presented Passion & Football in the North East’ for Channel 4. 2025 saw Raul tour in Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Cambodia, Japan, South Korea, Australia & New Zealand being nominated for the Best International Debut at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival.

Featuring - Steve Gribbin

Steve Gribbin appearing at this event

'The vertically-challenged Scouser with a guitar, savage lyrics and a voice that will break your heart (if not your crockery); topical, incisive, witty and bloody-minded.' (Glee)

His original comedy songs combine razor sharp lyrics with tunes that put their foot in the

door of your mind and refuse to leave. Firmly based in rock 'n' roll and refusing to pull no

punches, these are not the 'oh so witty' ditties of penguin-suited plink plonk piano playing

posh gobs. They are that rarity - comedy songs which are actually funny.

For nine years Steve was the smaller one in the dynamic comedy duo Skint Video, stalwart's of the Edinburgh Festival, appearing on countless television programmes such as Saturday Live, radio such as The Mary Whitehouse Experience, and their own show in 1992/3 Songlines (BBC Radio 1). Skint Video went their different ways in 1993, since when Steve has been storming across the UK and Ireland as a solo artiste.

"A highly refreshing and original comic” (The Scotsman).

“Satirical songs pulled off with real aplomb” (The Independent).

Alistair Barrie

Alistair Barrie appearing at this event

Much in demand as an act, Alistair Barrie has forged a reputation for himself as one of the top comperes to emerge in recent years. His deceptively friendly and engaging stage presence masks a sharp, dry wit which can be turned to subjects as diverse as suicide bombers in the Middle East to the perils of flying EasyJet.

Despite a fondness for topical material, any performance is likely to be peppered with some inspired silliness and a little audience-related improvisation.

'Eloquent, slick and dynamic' (http://www.Chortle.co.uk)

'One of the circuit's classiest stand ups’ (London is Funny)

'Smart, slick and truly funny. Don't take my word for it, check him out yourself’ (Bruce Dessau, Beyond The Joke)

'Barrie has a casually sardonic sense of humour and is sharp as a guillotine blade. Woe betide the bloody fool who tries to heckle him' (Cape Town Argus).
