City Funk Orchestra - The capital’s best and most popular funk/soul band plays to packed houses throughout London and the South. Many festival appearances have seen them appearing alongside Average White Band, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Tony Hadley, Amy Winehouse Band, ABC. Their biggest audience was last Summer’s 10,000 capacity Cropredy Festival in Oxfordshire opening the evening with a bang for the Trevor Horne Band.
The band’s sound centres around the soul and funk ‘golden age’ of the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, to which these top players have added the magic ingredient of genuine authenticity. Their own CFO penned material blends seamlessly amongst the big dance floor fillers the band have made their own. Songs include the most loved tracks of Chaka Khan, Luther Vandross, Maze, SOS Band, Shalamar, Gap Band, The Emotions, alongside many rare groove picks that never fail to please soul sophisticates ...
Featuring two of the best soul singers in the UK in regular female lead Imaani (longtime lead singer with internationally acclaimed UK jazz funk legends Incognito), and from Cleveland Ohio, Angelo Starr (younger brother of soul music legend Edwin Starr) - with a funky-as-it-gets rhythm section of Nial Tompkins-guitar, Carl Hudson-keys, Matt Pegg-bass, Geoff Dunn-drums.
In late 2025 CFO released the first of their self written/produced original tracks 'This Could Be' feat Imaani - Record Of The Week for several Soul Music radio station DJ's.
