About the show

Hailed by Rolling Stone for his “astonishing mastery of his craft”, Ed Blunt writes story songs that will both make you laugh and gently break your heart.

Featured on BBC Radio and selected to play in all 620 Caffè Nero branches, his music blends folk, jazz and roots with a dry Randy Newman-esque wit.

Ed has released two acclaimed albums—Over The Moon (2022) and Grown Up (2024)—and collaborated with Beth Nielsen Chapman, Jamie Lawson, and Elles Bailey.

His 2025 debut UK solo tour included sold-out dates, and he has played major festivals such as Manchester Folk Festival and Black Deer. In 2025, he was selected for the Sound Roots Artist Mentoring Pathway, a career development programme for exceptional emerging artists.

Ed Blunt’s music evokes classic Tin Pan Alley songwriting with a lyricism that reaches from the introspective to the universal.

From cinematic stories of men on the moon to the folklore of his home city, his songs paint a rich tapestry with soul-stirring melodies that linger long after listening.

A jazz and classically trained pianist who earned his stripes on the London scene, his album ‘Over the Moon’ marks Blunt’s debut release as an independent artist. Blunt started writing his own music in earnest during the lockdown of 2020, during which he was discovered by Chris Difford of legendary band Squeeze, who describes Blunt’s writing as “brilliant”.
