About the show
Multi-award-winning tenor saxophonist Karen Sharp is universally admired for her melodic, accessible yet distinctive, saxophone playing. Having recorded six albums as leader she has won the British Jazz Award for best tenor saxophonist on several occasions and has been a nominee in the Rising Star category of the US Downbeat Critics Poll for baritone sax in both 2018 and 2019. Tenor saxophonist who leads her own ensembles as well as playing regularly in the Humphrey Lyttelton Band. Karen studied at the Royal Northern College and is very much a fan of Dexter Gordon who influenced her playing style.
