Delighted to welcome the UK's leading cartographer to Filey Literature Festival.Christopher Goddard’s beautiful book is a hand-drawn guide to walking the 201-mile Yorkshire Coast Path, exploring the county's varied coastline from the Tees to the Humber.

The book covers the high cliffs of Cleveland and North Yorkshire, as well as the crumbling shore of the East Riding and the flatlands of the Humber estuary, showcasing the wonderfully varied scenery of the county’s long coastline. Starting on the River Tees in Middlesbrough and finishing at the River Ouse in Goole, most of this route now forms part of the newly opened England Coast Path.

The hand-drawn maps also provide plenty of opportunities for creating short circular walks and for exploring the cliffs, beaches and foreshore of the area.

Over twenty suggested circular routes are included, all accessible by public transport, taking in sections of the coastline while also venturinginland. There are dozens of hand-drawn sketches and extensive notes on the rich local history, wildlife, geology, etymology and folklore of this fascinating coast.
