Annabel Abbs is a multi-award-winning writer of fiction and non-fiction, published internationally in 30 languages. Her second novel, Frieda: TheOriginal Lady Chatterley, was a Times Book of the Month and was laternamed a Times Book of the Year in 2018.

Annabel’s first foray into narrative non-fiction, Windswept: Why Women Walk, was published in June 2021. It tells the extraordinary stories of eight women who walked long distances in wild and often remote places as they sought their own voices. They include Simone de Beauvoir, Nan Shepherd, Georgia O’Keeffe, Gwen John and Daphne du Maurier

Annabel’s 52 Ways to Walk, published under the name Annabel Streets,explores the lesser-known science behind the simple act of walking. Herlatest book, The Walking Cure, examines 20 landscapes and the ways in which they influence us – psychologically, emotionally, cognitively and biologically.Annabel grew up in Wales and Sussex. The daughter of the academic and poet Peter Abbs, she lives with her family in London and Sussex and is a Fellow of the Brown Foundation.
