About the show
The City of London Choir closes the 2026 Festival in style with this stunning concert of traditional songs from the British Isles to Bavaria.
With a programme of music deeply rooted in the land, it includes George Shearing’s superb 1999 choral collection of seven Shakespeare poems and songs set to music, bringing together quintessential English poetry with 20th-century jazz.
The concert also features Elgar’s charming suite of six songs inspired by Bavarian culture, From the Bavarian Highlands, Vaughan Williams’ lush, pastoral arrangement of Greensleeves and songs by Britten, Grainger and more.
With leading choral conductor Daniel Hyde and Timothy End on piano, it promises to be a glorious finish to this year’s festival.
