About the show

Love songs about drinking and drinking songs about love

The Berlin-based duo will bring their charming and uplifting songs of love, life, drinking and late nights to an intimate show at this characterful venue. The long-time Folk Radio UK and BBC 6 Music favourites will be visiting Todmorden as part of a UK tour promoting two new albums ‘Pole Fitness’ and ‘Hotel Berlin’

“Beautiful people making beautiful music, and doing it on their own terms. For my tastes, Stanley Brinks is the most talented lyricist we have ever and will ever record for Simple Folk Radio” - Dillon, Folk Radio UK

Featuring - Stanley Brinks

Stanley Brinks is the new identity of André Herman Düne, original member of the Herman Düne trio. He also recorded and played shows in Europe, the UK and the US under various other names: Ben Dope, Ben Haschish, Klaus Bong, John Trawling, John Andreas, Lord Stanislas... Now based in Berlin, he's mostly recording and playing as a solo act.

Freschard

Freschard appearing at this event

Freschard grew up in a farm in French Burgundy. She started organising shows in the barn when she was about 12 years old. Aged 18 she moved to the big city, Paris, where she baked pies and cakes in a cafe. There, a local musician and regular customer called Andre Herman Dune wrote a few songs for her to sing.

Moving to New York, she saved up money to get a guitar and began to write her own material. Now Freschard is based in Berlin, writing songs which deftly combine folk music, urban daydreams, acoustic sounds and electronic programming.

She collaborates and tours with Stanley Brinks.
