Alas de Liona

Alas de Liona is a singer-songwriter from Ridgecrest, a small town in the Mojave Desert, California and came to Edinburgh University in Autumn 2019 to finish her final degree year.

At the age of 5 she loved 1960’s singer/songwriters. At 12 she was obsessed with Enya, at 17 she picked up a guitar and taught herself chords in order to write songs.

Not long after that, she formed a band with a few college friends and played several local venues under the name Red Rockwell. Attending open-mic nights hosted by the Historical Society, Alas established herself locally as a solo-musician.

After a successful crowd-funding campaign, she recorded in a bedroom studio, her self-released debut album, ‘Lightning and Fire’ in 2017, merging folky and synth elements with haunting melodies and imaginative and poetic lyrics.
