Dickens Theatre Company Presents Revision On Tour: Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde

Calling all English GCSE students, teachers and literature lovers! Dickens Theatre Company’s acclaimed stage adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s gothic thriller returns to the Devonshire Park Theatre in March 2027.

London, 1888. A thick Fitzrovia fog cloaks the city. In the shadows, a sinister figure stalks the streets. A young child is brutally attacked. Who is this “sneering Satan” and will he strike again?

In this inventive adaptation, Shakespeare’s Chorus becomes our narrator, guiding audiences through the tangled web of ambition, betrayal and dark prophecy with engaging modern verse. Performed by an ensemble of just six actors, this fast-paced, text-faithful production brings the Scottish Play vividly to life through dynamic multi-roling performance.

Part of DTC’s highly acclaimed Revision on Tour programme (alongside Macbeth and A Christmas Carol), this accessible adaptation is specifically designed to support GCSE English study while remaining entertaining for all audiences.

All matinee performances also include the option to stay for a free 20-minute post-show Q&A with the cast and director, a hugely popular addition for school groups, giving students the chance to ask questions, deepen their understanding of the novella and explore the production further.
