About the show

Carole King’s Tapestry is one of rock ‘n’ roll’s most magical recordings. In this concert, The Album Era will perform this classic album in its entirety from ‘I Feel The Earth Move’ to ‘Natural Woman’ as well as more epic songs from the Carole King songbook.

Released in February 1971, Tapestry was recorded amongst good company in Los Angeles. The album is a masterclass in songwriting from tracks like ‘So Far Away’ and ‘Beautiful’, to the iconic ‘You’ve Got A Friend’. Throughout the sessions, Carole shared the studio with James Taylor and Joni Mitchell (who even appear on the record) while they recorded their iconic albums Mud Slide Slim and Blue!

Featuring a seven piece ensemble, The Album Era will perform Tapestry from start to finish as well as a set of even more songs from the Carole King songbook. From the iconic Goffin-King partnership of the 1960s, expect to hear classic songs including “The Locomotion” to “Up On The Roof”, and “Chains” to “Pleasant Valley Sunday”.

This isn’t imitation- it’s dedication. The Album Era collective goes beyond tribute act traditions, Each performance revives the sounds of classic albums with authenticity, while delivering the electricity of a true live rock concert.

Featuring exceptional musicians from across the UK – from rockers to the classically trained – every Album Era line-up is carefully curated to reproduce these masterpieces with passion and precision.

The Album Era is a Jam Soup Music Production.

The Album Era appearing at this event

The Album Era concert series goes beyond Tribute Act traditions. Losing the wigs and costumes, each performance the band gives reproduces one of rock and roll’s most iconic albums in full with authenticity to the original sounds and studio effects, while maintaining an engaging live music experience of the highest quality.

In the first half of the performance, the band will perform a classic album in full branching across musical genres, acts and eras of popular music. From Rock n Roll masterpieces, 80s Pop cassettes that were worn out in the car stereo, and modern classics, each performance will reach out to music fans and geeks while opening up a world of nostalgia. As well as the album, the second half of the show will feature a set of hits and fan favourites from the artist in question.

Hailing from across the UK, The Album Era showcases some of the country’s finest musical talent from all walks of the industry. The collaboration of instrumentalists from rock and roll and tribute backgrounds as well as the classically trained from top music universities including Guildhall, Leeds Conservatoire and Trinity Laban, allows for this iconic music to be reproduced and performed to a top standard. Each performance will have a carefully curated line up of these musicians so that the music can be recreated as authentically as possible.
