The ‘Godfather of House Music’, Marshall Jefferson, is coming to The Terrace Dewsbury!
Grammy-nominated Marshall Jefferson is a true innovator of house music and is credited as being the first artist to use piano on a house song in his now classic 1986 track ‘Move Your Body’.
He was a key player in in the Chicago house scene from the start and has been an inspiration to house DJs and producers ever since.
On 18th September, the ‘Godfather of House Music’ plays The Terrace Dewsbury, building on its reputation as Yorkshire’s up and coming house music independent venue. Marshall will be supported by special sets from resident DJs Paul Birbeck, Matthaus and Steve Kirk.

Featuring - Marshall Jefferson
Marshall 'Godfather of house' Jefferson, one of the originators of the house scene from Chicago. As a solo act, he recorded 1986's 'Move Your Body' - sub-titled and unanimously acclaimed 'The House Music Anthem'. Jefferson also helped record Phuture's 'Acid Tracks', the first and best acid-house single. He grew tired of the sound and moved into a more spiritual form of music later termed deep house; along with Larry Heard, he became one of its best producers. Jefferson spent much of the 1990s remixing and DJing, and did record under his own name for the 1997 album Day of the Onion.
