About the show

Cotswold Archaeology tell the story of this recent local excavation and its amazing archaeological findings along an important route between Gloucester and Swindon which has revealed a Cotswold landscape 12,000 years in the making.

From Spring 2023 to Summer 2024, Oxford Cotswold Archaeology (OCA) undertook archaeological mitigation works along the route of the A417 “Missing Link” improvement project, on behalf of Kier Transportation and National Highways. The archaeological excavations covered over 600,000m2, and features were identified from multiple periods, including Mesolithic and Neolithic activity, Bronze Age, Iron Age and Roman funerary activity, Iron Age and Roman settlement, and a Second World War air defence position. With fieldwork now complete, OCA are able to share more detail about the discoveries, which tell a story of how this part of the Cotswolds was used across the last 12,000 years.

The talk starts at 7pm. Seating is unreserved. Bar open from 6.30pm. Free parking.
