About the show
Masters of their crafts, Moreno (Spain) and Hall (UK) are songwriter-poets born two weeks apart, hermanos you might say. Gabriel Moreno (cultural ambassador for Gibraltar, Spain) and El Hall (founder of mental health and music organisation Mind Your Music, Bristol, UK) are both outstanding songwriters and entertainers, each with one foot in Spain and one here in the UK.
With countless published books of poetry under his belt along with multiple album releases, charismatic and larger-than-life Moreno – currently living in London – is selling out shows all over the country. Often accompanied by friends on violin or clarinet, he woos the audience with tales of ‘bohemia’, foot stomping and hip shaking, and it is impossible not to get swept up and sing along.
‘An offshoot of Leonard Cohen and Neil Dimaond. I love it!’ Cerys Matthews Radio 6
Famously making the leap ‘from psychiatric ward to the concert hall’ Hall spent many younger years battling significant demons. He now runs mental health and music organisation Mind Your Music, helping others to do the same. Although born and bred in the UK, Hall – often touted to be ‘UK’s answer to Bob Dylan’ – is a self-taught Spanish speaker interested in flamenco music and, like Moreno, the poetry of Lorca, and this shows in his music. Powerful, romantic, beautiful and shocking, his words and melodies will stay with you long after the show.
‘Congratulations, this is the best set of songs I’ve ever been asked to review.’ Alex Lee Thom
