Nigel Osner returns to the Alma
This character driven one-man show is heading to the Alma Tavern and Theatre, Bristol on 20th September. The show is written and performed by the “tremendously talented and very entertaining Nigel Osner” (The Scotsman). Tickets now on sale.
Aided by a colourful cast of characters, Nigel delves into two and a half decades of crafting, developing and showcasing his work. He tells his tale using his own lyrics and monologues. His characters include a man who hates being labelled, a woman who has given up men, a fading rock star, a fangless vampire – and even an owl! ‘Still ticking!’ is full of laughter, pathos and original songs. The show title comes from Nigel nearly dying in an operating theatre some years ago after his heart was pierced in error and eventually stopped. Plainly it was restarted! This is why another character is a non-binary Death, lamenting Nigel’s escape from the grave!
Reviews of the show include:
• ‘... tells a good yarn and gives excellent characterisations ... there’s a rock star sensuality to much of Osner’s accomplished cabaret turns --- Furthermore, Osner has beautiful tones to his voice, and sings powerfully ---- undoubtedly a very talented performer’ ★★★★ londonpubtheatres.com
• ‘----- the snake-hipped love child of Noel Coward and Eileen Atkins, an ageing provocateur with sweetness and sleaze. His vocals are powerful and his acting skills excel
Featuring - Nigel Osner

'...his diverse and amusing songs... are delivered with wit and warmth... Osner segues from dark torch song (complete with fangs!) to Las Vegas brat pack seamlessly. However, it is when Osner sings his own songs that he is at his best... His gentle mocking of the audience is always on the right side of friendly banter and the audience like him all the more for it. As did I' (Maureen Mckarkiel, Remote Goat)
'Osner excels at throwing emotion and thought behind each characterisation, along with astute observation and deep feeling... a charming and entertaining show filled with warmth and performed with cheeky panache' (James Waygood, sosogay)
'... very original material... left me amused and in a good mood' (Lisa Martland, The Stage).
