About the show
We’re launching Absolutely Belting Comedy at The Orange Tree, Baldock! Join us for a regular monthly night of brilliant live stand-up, every last Friday.
Headlining our opening night is comedy legend ARTHUR SMITH: award-winning comedian, writer, broadcaster and erstwhile Grumpy Old Man. Known for Have I Got News for You, QI and Radio 4, Arthur is “the walking, talking spirit of the Fringe” (The Times).
Opening is one of our absolute favourites, JOE DA COSTA. This musical comedian has won Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh, Brighton and Hastings Fringes and appeared on the BBC New Comedy Awards. Think Flight of the Conchords meets Bo Burnham. He plays guitar and sings simultaneously. They said it couldn’t be done.
CHRIS ALI has already wowed our Stevenage and Letchworth audiences and recently opened for Phil Nichol on tour. Catch this rising star before we can no longer afford him!
CHAS LANGSTON brings fast-paced, chaotic and endearing observational comedy, figuring out life through the eyes of an idiot.
All barely held together by one-man car crash DUNCAN HART.
“Incredible!” – BBC Three Counties.
Four fantastic acts, one chaotic host and a brand-new night out on your doorstep. As easy as ABC!
Book now for absolutely belting comedy!
Strong language and mature themes. Strictly 18+.
Great comedy. Great value. No booking fees.
Featuring - Arthur Smith
Comedian, compere and playwright. This grumpy old man per excellence presents the BBC Radio 4 show 'Excess Baggage' and has written four plays including 'An Evening With Gary Lineker' and 'Live Bed Show'.
His stand-up topics range from vigorous yodelling to mediaeval literature via death by drink. His delivery is relaxed and sardonic, but his shows are a surprising, dark and witty treat.
He's also one of the many 'Grumpy Old Men' that appear on BBC 2's hit show.
'The funniest and most honest comic of his generation' (The List).
Duncan Hart
Duncan has quickly established himself as a popular act at some of the most respected comedy clubs in the UK and abroad. With an imposing stage presence, a natural ability to banter, improvise and engage with an audience, he is gaining a reputation as one of the most promising MCs on the circuit.
