Misanthrope

National Theatre Live: The Misanthrope

Experience world-class theatre on the big screen with National Theatre Live's recorded production of The Misanthrope, captured live from the National Theatre in London and presented in stunning high-definition cinema quality.

Award-winning actress Sandra Oh (Killing Eve, Grey's Anatomy) stars as Alice in Martin Crimp's bold, contemporary reimagining of Molière's classic dark comedy. Directed by National Theatre Director Indhu Rubasingham, this sharp, gender-reversed adaptation places a fearless novelist at the centre of a world built on social niceties, half-truths and carefully constructed appearances.

Alice despises the hollow platitudes of modern society and refuses to stay silent. But as she challenges accepted norms and speaks uncomfortable truths, she faces growing criticism, fractured relationships and professional backlash. How much is she willing to sacrifice for honesty?

Please note: This is not a live performance at the venue. It is a recorded National Theatre Live screening, filmed live on stage at the National Theatre and shown on our cinema screen, allowing audiences to enjoy one of the UK's most acclaimed theatre productions without travelling to London.
